NTT DOCOMO and Ooredoo successfully completed 5G SA Field Trial RAN at Qatar Ooredoo Headquarters

NTT DOCOMO, INC. (DOCOMO), along with its group company OREX SAI, INC. (OREX SAI), is proud to announce that it has successfully completed its OREX brand 5G SA Field Trial with Ooredoo Q.P.S.C. (Ooredoo) at Ooredoo Qatar Headquarters.

The trial was first announced at a Press Release during MWC on February 26th, 2024 and is one of the initial steps for accelerating the global adoption of mobile networks built on Open RAN architecture, which will help to eliminate global communication gaps by enabling open, interoperable interfaces and virtualization.

The trial is first of its kind in Qatar as it tests Open RAN solution for the in-building environment within Ooredoo Qatar’s Headquarters. The trial was demonstrated to Ooredoo Group and Qatar executives accompanied by NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL and OREX SAI management.

Both companies agreed to continue their Open RAN journey with a 5G NSA Field Trial, with the aim of exploring the potential for future commercial services.
